Diagnostic centre and lab marketing in Kerala
Labs and imaging centres win on three things patients and doctors can see: trust in the results, speed, and how easy it is to book.

Adserr provides diagnostic centre marketing for pathology labs, imaging centres and health checkup providers in Kochi and across Kerala. Diagnostic marketing is unusual because you have four customers at once: patients who search for tests, doctors who prescribe them, companies that buy annual checkups, and families who book packages for parents. We build visibility and booking routes for each, while keeping ultrasound and imaging promotion well clear of PCPNDT and advertising-law problems.
How people choose a lab or scan centre
Prescribed tests. A doctor writes "LFT, HbA1c, lipid profile" or "MRI lumbar spine". Many patients go wherever the doctor suggests. Others search "MRI scan near me", "blood test home collection Kochi" or "thyroid test price" and compare on price, location and reviews.
Health checkup packages. People book a health checkup on a doctor's advice, before a job, or for their parents. Adult children in the Gulf often book and pay for a package for parents in Kerala, which makes online booking and WhatsApp reports essential.
Corporate and insurance checkups. HR teams and insurers choose a provider by coverage, turnaround time, report format and price.
Urgent results. Fever season in the monsoon brings dengue, leptospirosis and typhoid tests. Patients want a nearby lab that is open early and gives same-day reports.
Marketing challenges for diagnostic centres
- Price comparison is easy. Online aggregators show test prices side by side. Competing only on price squeezes margins and attracts no loyalty.
- Trust is invisible. Accuracy, quality control and qualified pathologists and radiologists are what really matter, but patients cannot see them unless you show them.
- Doctor relationships. Referrals remain a large share of business. Marketing must support doctor relations, never offer anything that looks like an inducement.
- Home collection logistics. Promising a 7 am collection you cannot keep creates bad reviews faster than any competitor can.
Regulations diagnostic centres must respect
- PCPNDT Act: ultrasound centres must be registered, and no advertising may mention or hint at sex determination. This applies to images, words, hashtags and even keywords targeted in ads.
- Clinical establishment registration in Kerala, and AERB requirements for X-ray and CT, should be in order before you advertise those services.
- NMC guidelines (6 October 2026): they bind the doctors who sign your reports and may also apply to diagnostic establishments (clause 3.4), so check with your legal adviser. Discounts, limited-period offers, coupons, cashbacks, referral benefits and free tests must not be used in a way likely to encourage unnecessary investigations or that amounts to soliciting patients (clause 8.1(x)), and information about diagnostic facilities should not claim superiority or guaranteed accuracy (Explanation II), so avoid "most accurate". Prices and package contents may be shown factually and transparently. Under the Consumer Protection Act and ASCI code, claims like "reports in 2 hours" must also be true.
- NMC guidelines on referrals: the October 2026 guidelines bar doctors from offering, paying, soliciting or receiving any commission, rebate, referral fee or other consideration connected with referrals (clause 8.1(vii)), so never offer one; build doctor relationships on service quality alone.
- DPDP Act, 2023 (its consent duties are being phased in): reports and test data are sensitive, so get consent before sharing reports on WhatsApp or using contact data for reminders or marketing messages.
We flag anything uncertain for your legal adviser to confirm.

What works for diagnostic centre marketing
| Customer | What works |
|---|---|
| Walk-in patients | A Maps profile per branch, accurate timings, early-morning hours shown clearly, a price list for common tests |
| Home collection | A booking page and WhatsApp booking, ads limited to areas your phlebotomists actually cover |
| Package buyers | Clear package pages by age and gender, gift-to-parents booking for NRIs, reminders for repeat tests a doctor has advised (with consent) |
| Doctors | Turnaround-time commitments, critical-value call protocols, a named relationship person |
| Companies | A corporate health checkup proposal, on-site camp options, consolidated reporting for HR |
Seasonal planning matters. Monsoon fever panels, holiday-season visits by Gulf-based families, Ramadan timing changes and post-Gulf-return checkups are all predictable peaks.
Showing quality also matters. If you have NABL accreditation, explain what it means in one plain sentence. Introduce your pathologists and radiologists by name and qualification.
What Adserr does for diagnostic centres
- Branch-level Maps visibility for every collection centre and lab through Google Business Profile management.
- A booking-focused website with test search, package pages and home collection booking through hospital website design.
- Compliant search and social ads for packages and home collection through healthcare advertising, with PCPNDT-sensitive keywords excluded.
- Review management for every branch through reputation management, with replies that never mention results or conditions.
- Corporate outreach material for employer checkups, and factual information about camps, without free-test or discount offers.
If your lab sits inside a hospital, it can be marketed as part of the hospital plan on our hospital marketing page.
Frequently asked questions
How do diagnostic centres get more patients?
Make every branch easy to find on Google Maps with correct hours, make booking possible by phone, WhatsApp and website, and offer reliable home collection. Then build relationships with nearby doctors and companies, and ask every patient for a review.
Can a lab advertise test prices and discounts?
Test prices and package contents can be published factually and transparently. Discounts, limited-period offers, coupons and free tests are a different matter: the NMC's October 2026 guidelines bar them where they are likely to encourage unnecessary investigations or amount to soliciting patients (clause 8.1(x)). Keep advertising to accurate prices and what each package includes, and check any promotion with your legal adviser.
What should an ultrasound centre avoid in its marketing?
Any word, image or keyword that refers to the sex of a baby, directly or indirectly, is off-limits under the PCPNDT Act. That includes ad keyword targeting and social media hashtags. Keep your PCPNDT registration in order before promoting scans.
How do we market health checkup packages to NRIs?
Create a simple "book for your parents" option with online payment, reports shared with both the parent and the person who paid (with consent), and a phone call to confirm timing. Explain it in Malayalam and English content for Gulf-based families, with clear prices and package contents and no festival offers or limited-period deals.
How much does diagnostic centre marketing cost?
It depends on how many branches and collection centres you promote, which channels you use, how much content you want each month and the languages involved. Any ad spend is paid directly to Google or Meta. We send a written scope and quote after the free audit; see how our pricing works.
Is it allowed to pay doctors for referrals?
No. The NMC's October 2026 guidelines bar doctors from offering, paying, soliciting or receiving any commission, rebate, referral fee or lead-generation fee connected with referring patients (clause 8.1(vii)), and neither doctors nor hospitals may use an intermediary to do indirectly what they cannot do directly (clause 8.1(xi)). Market to doctors through service quality, turnaround time and communication instead, and take legal advice on any arrangement you are unsure about.
