Healthcare marketing by specialty means planning around how patients choose that particular kind of care, instead of reusing one template for every practice. A family looking for a dentist, a couple researching IVF and an international guest planning a Panchakarma stay search differently, take different amounts of time to decide and face different limits on what an advertisement can say. Pick your specialty below to see how Adserr approaches it.
Three differences shape every plan:
- Decision time. A clinic or diagnostic centre is often chosen the same day from Google Maps. IVF, dental implants, LASIK and hair transplants are researched for weeks, so patient education and follow-up matter more than ads alone.
- Rules. IVF marketing must stay within the PCPNDT Act and the ART (Regulation) Act 2021, ayurveda must avoid cure claims, and skin clinics face platform limits and, under the NMC's October 2026 guidelines, a bar on promotional before-and-after photographs. Our guide to hospital advertising rules in India covers the main points.
- Audience. Cataract patients and their children, people recovering from a sports injury and international patients planning travel need different languages, channels and tone.
Multispecialty hospitals combine many of these at once, so our hospital marketing page explains how we plan department by department. Single-doctor practices and polyclinics should start with clinic marketing. The channels themselves, such as hospital SEO and healthcare advertising, are the same building blocks for every specialty; what changes is the message, the timing and the compliance checks. Frequently asked questions
Why does healthcare marketing need to differ by specialty?
Each specialty has its own patients, decision time and advertising limits. A dental clinic depends heavily on Google Maps and reviews, while an IVF centre needs private, patient-paced communication that stays within the PCPNDT and ART Acts. One template for both would serve one poorly and risk breaching the rules for the other.
Which specialties have the strictest advertising rules?
IVF and fertility care, because of the PCPNDT Act and the ART (Regulation) Act 2021, and ayurveda, where claims to cure conditions can fall foul of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act. Skin and cosmetic clinics also face Meta's and Google's limits on before-and-after images in ads, and the NMC's October 2026 guidelines bar doctors from using such photographs in promotion. This is general information, so check specific campaigns with your legal adviser.
Can a multispecialty hospital use more than one of these approaches?
Yes. A hospital with cardiology, orthopaedics and maternity departments needs a separate plan for each, run under one brand and reported together. Specialty wings such as an IVF unit or an eye department are subject to the same advertising limits as standalone centres.
